Just turn up Park in the road, not in the Green Dragon Car park.
The Maltings, Little Stretton, diagonally opposite the Green Dragon Pub, is an 80’s, south facing brick built semi, which replaced an ancient barn. Mike and Liz have been gradually refitting over some 20 years. Improvements include loft conversion in the 1990’s with between rafters insulation, followed by cavity wall insulation, double glazed replacement windows and doors and in the early 2020’s solar hot water and 7 PV panels rated at 1.61 kW, which generate an average of 1358kW per year. The village has no mains gas so heating is via an oil boiler using approximately 1300 litres per year which produces 3.3 tonnes of CO2e. In 2013 the open fireplace was replaced by an enclosed woodburning stove. The biggest reduction in their footprint was to replace their diesel car for an all electric one—a further footprint reduction of 2.3 tonnes. Read more on the Case Study.
Annual energy figures: Heating Oil 1300 litres, Electricity including car charging 3798 kW, water 141 cubic metres. An air source heat pump is being considered and a professional eco survey has been done to identify further thermal efficiency.
Come and visit this delightful home with its pretty stream side garden, a paradise for bees.
